Prepare a CP Plus or Dahua NVR, DVR or XVR

Do this once, on the recorder's screen or its web page (as the admin).

1. Create a user for Kepto

1. Main Menu → System → Account → Add User.
2. User name kepto, a strong password, group user.
3. Give it only Live, Playback and event rights, for all channels. Don't give system or account rights.

2. Turn on smart events and event pictures

1. Event → Video Detection → Motion (or IVS → Tripwire / Intrusion, and SMD human/vehicle filters where available).
2. Turn on Snapshot for these events so pictures are saved to the hard disk.
3. Keep recording on (general or event).

3. Substream

Camera → Encode → Sub Stream: Compression H.264 for each channel.

Then go back to the app and continue with Recorder address. Menu names differ slightly between models and firmware.
